Doug Kravitz is a restructuring professional with 20 years of experience maximizing outcomes for lenders in distressed situations across nearly all products, industries, and jurisdictions.
Prior to joining M3, Doug spent his career at J.P. Morgan rising to the role of Global Head of Investment Banking Special Credits, responsible for the strategy and oversight of all distressed assets in the investment banking credit portfolio. He also spent several years based in London as the Head of Special Credits for EMEA and Asia-Pacific.
Doug has had extensive experience as chair of official and ad-hoc creditor committees, leading negotiations for creditor groups, defending against liability management transactions, and handling complex litigation cases. He has also led and structured numerous debtor-in-possession, bankruptcy exit, asset-based, and bridge financings to preserve value in distressed situations. Throughout his career, Doug has focused on maximizing long-term value in distressed situations often working with companies and creditor groups over many years to manage to the best possible outcomes. His experience is across nearly all sectors with particular focus on media, telecom, energy, healthcare, and commercial real estate.
During his tenure at J.P. Morgan, Doug was also Head of Wholesale Credit Risk Leveraged Finance, responsible for the firmwide governance and strategy of the higher risk wholesale leveraged finance portfolio during a period of enormous growth in the portfolio post-COVID. He worked with deal teams to mitigate risk in leveraged finance underwrites and established stress limits to prioritize capital allocation for growth areas such as venture capital-related lending and private credit.
Representative restructuring transactions that he’s worked on include Lumen Technologies, Venator Materials, Bright Health, Technicolor, Nordic Aviation, California Resources, and GenOn.
Doug earned a BA in Economics and an MBA from Columbia University.
