Brett began his career as an attorney and, over the course of his career, he has advised clients on a variety of business and legal issues, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate purchases, financings, licensing deals, and litigation matters.

Since joining M3, Brett has represented debtors preparing for Chapter 11 and debtors-in-possession during Chapter 11. He has represented numerous unsecured creditors’ committees and led multiple investigations. Brett has also worked extensively on post-effective engagements and, among other activities, advised the plan administrator in monetizing a Chapter 11 claim for more than $1 billion and a litigation administrator overseeing multiple investigations and litigations on behalf of a post-effective estate.

Brett began his legal career at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton and he founded and managed a boutique law firm prior to joining M3. Brett also has served as CEO of an early-stage technology company, where he negotiated licensing deals with major professional sports leagues, universities, networks, and other rights holders.

Brett is a graduate of Cornell University, where he received a BA with Distinction in All Subjects, Harvard Law School, where he received his JD, and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where he received his MBA and majored in finance. He also holds a CFA Charter.
