Managing Director

Enrique Ubarri has more than 25 years of experience in law, finance, and strategic advisory, with deep expertise in governance, regulatory compliance, and financial services. He has advised companies across a wide range of industries, including financial services, telecommunications, leisure, gaming, sports, entertainment, real estate, transportation, and healthcare, among others.

Enrique is a Managing Director at M3 Partners, based in Miami, where he focuses on restructuring, transformation, and strategic transaction advisory. He plays a key role in expanding M3’s Miami and Latin America practice, leveraging his extensive cross-border experience and longstanding relationships in the region.

Prior to joining M3, Enrique was a Senior Managing Director in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting Group at FTI Consulting, where he focused on financial services. His work centered on regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering and KYC, risk assessments, corporate governance, and transaction advisory services. He also advised private equity funds on due diligence for investments in banks, fintechs, and other financial services companies.

Earlier in his career, Enrique served as General Counsel for three publicly traded companies, including banks and an insurance company, where he oversaw legal, compliance, and governance matters at the executive level. He also worked at AlixPartners and Zolfo Cooper, advising on high-profile restructuring, operational turnaround, and transformation. His restructuring work has included advising debtors, lenders, and official committees of unsecured creditors in complex bankruptcies and cross-border situations.

Enrique has been deeply involved in some of the most complex restructuring cases in recent history, including serving as advisor to the Unsecured Creditors Committee in the Puerto Rico bankruptcy, the largest municipal bond bankruptcy in U.S. history. He has also led forensic portfolio reviews and remediation efforts, working closely with counterparties to resolve transactional issues and stabilize distressed portfolios.

Enrique holds a Master of Laws in Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law (LL.M.) from the University of Miami School of Law; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Boston College, Carroll Graduate School of Management; a Master of Laws in American Banking (LL.M.) from Boston University School of Law, Morin Center for Banking Studies; a Master of Laws in Securities and Financial Regulation (LL.M.) from Georgetown University Law Center; a Juris Doctor (JD) from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law; and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a Minor in Economics, from Boston University.

He is authorized to practice law in Florida, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and is fluent in Spanish and English.
