Javier Schiffrin has actively participated in debt restructurings for two decades as a principal investor, investment banker and corporate lawyer.

From 2016 to 2021, Javier was Senior Vice President at the hedge fund Paulson & Co., where he focused on U.S. and European public distressed debt investments as a member of the credit fund, managed the financing component of Paulson’s private sponsor transactions and served as a Paulson nominee on the board of Midas Gold.

Between 2000 and 2006, Javier worked as a corporate lawyer at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and a restructuring lawyer at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. At Kirkland & Ellis, Javier advised corporate debtors, lenders and bondholders on some of the largest and most complex restructurings to date, including Calpine, NRG and Solutia.

Javier received a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a James Kent Scholar, and a B.A. with first class honors in History from McGill University. Javier is admitted to the bar in the State of New York.
